Marrakech to Merzouga 3-Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Marrakech → Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech, heading toward the majestic High Atlas Mountains. Enjoy stunning panoramic views along the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass, where Berber villages cling to the mountainsides.
Our first major stop is the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, a remarkable example of earthen architecture and a filming location for famous movies like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Wander through the maze-like streets, meet local artisans, and capture memorable photos.
After a traditional Moroccan lunch, continue your journey via Ouarzazate and the Skoura Oasis, known for its lush palm groves and historic kasbahs. Arrive in the Dades Valley, where dramatic rock formations and deep gorges surround your hotel. Relax and enjoy dinner with breathtaking views of the valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley → Tinghir Oasis → Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we journey to the Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most spectacular canyons. Marvel at cliffs towering up to 300 meters, walk through the gorge, and capture stunning photos of this natural wonder.
Continue your drive toward the Sahara Desert, passing through Tinjdad and Erfoud, the latter famous for its fossils and as the gateway to the desert. Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon for the highlight of your day: a sunset camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. Feel the golden sands shift beneath your camel as the sun paints the dunes in fiery colors.
Reach your traditional Berber camp, where warm hospitality awaits. Enjoy a Moroccan dinner, and gather around the campfire for drumming, music, and stories under a star-filled desert sky.
Day 3: Merzouga → Ouarzazate → Marrakech
Wake up early for a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes, an experience you’ll remember forever. Return to Merzouga village by camel for breakfast at the camp.
Your journey back to Marrakech takes you through the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, lined with date palms and ancient kasbahs. Stop in Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Sahara,” for lunch and a visit to Kasbah Taourirt or the famous film studios.
Continue your drive over the High Atlas Mountains, arriving back in Marrakech in the early evening. Your tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel or a central location, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the Moroccan desert.
